Katherine Schwarzenegger recently gushed about her marriage to Guardians of the Galaxy <\/em>star, Chris Pratt, sharing a look at their very traditional marriage. The 36-year-old author shared a video<\/a> of Pratt building a dollhouse for their two daughters, Eloise and Lyla. The couple also have a one-year-old son, Ford. They have been careful to keep their children, as well as Pratt\u2019s son Jack with ex-wife, Anna Faris, out of the spotlight, rarely sharing pictures of their children and always with their faces turned away from the camera. The video also included Olivia Dean’s\u00a0Man I Need<\/em> playing over it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll never understand when women say \u2018I don’t need my husband\u2019 when I very much in fact do need my husband because who else would build our daughters a doll house?\u201d Schwarzenegger captioned the video, referring to Pratt as a \u201cgolden retriever husband.\u201d The term is used to describe someone who is affectionate, loyal, and happy-go-lucky. The couple have been married since 2019 and often praise one another online and in public interviews. \u00a0Other users agreed with Schwarzenegger\u2019s sentiment, with one user writing, \u201cI think the most empowering thing is that neither needs the other \u2013 but both choose each other. That\u2019s partnership at its best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt recently spoke of their marriage as well and praised the couple\u2019s premarital counseling that helped paved the way for their united marriage. \u201cWe also had a ceremony at St. Monica’s Church [in Santa Monica, Calif.,] and a part of getting married at St. Monica’s church is doing premarital counseling. We did like, six sessions with this guy who was, by the way, the best thing in the world,\u201d he told Rob Lowe in February on\u00a0SiriusXM\u2019s\u00a0Literally! With Rob Lowe<\/em>\u00a0podcast<\/a>. One of the big sticking points he was grateful they worked out prior to getting married? How soon and when to stop celebrating Christmas. \u201cOne of them was that we were gonna play Christmas music on November 1, and that we were gonna take the Christmas tree down December 26,\u201d he said, noting that talking about it beforehand allowed them to have a peaceful first Christmas as a married couple. \u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s like 300 potential landmines and [you can] diffuse them beforehand. And that way, if you have an issue, you talk about it and you hash it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt praised premarital counseling, calling it a gift. \u201cIf you agree on it, you move on,\u201d he said. \u201cBut if there’s things you disagree on, you hash it out and you do the work to figure out why are you coming from this [belief]? This therapist who’s basically diffusing a bomb, but in a way that’s not gonna cause an argument or a fight. \u2018Cause a lot of this stuff can make you angry or upset or triggered or whatever.
