In a heartbreaking joint statement shared at the time, the couple wrote, \u201cOur beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday Oct. 26.\u201d The message stopped many fans and fellow players in their tracks, prompting an outpouring of prayers and support.<\/p>\n<p>Now, months later, Kayla is speaking publicly for the first time since the tragedy. In an emotional video posted to TikTok, Kayla admitted she is still struggling to find the right words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I don\u2019t have much to say, honestly,\u201d she shared. \u201cAlex and I are just trying to get through it every day. Every day\u2019s so different for us right now, and I don\u2019t really have the words.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her message, which runs more than two minutes, isn\u2019t polished or scripted. Instead, it\u2019s raw and honest\u2014exactly where many grieving parents find themselves. It really has brought us a lot of comfort during this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alex and Kayla were married in 2024 and announced they were expecting their first child in April 2025. In the months that followed, they joyfully shared pregnancy updates and photos, inviting fans into their excitement about becoming parents.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before last year\u2019s World Series, Alex stepped away from the team to deal with what the Dodgers described as a \u201cdeeply personal matter.\u201d He did not appear in any games during the seven-game series. At the time, the organization offered privacy and support, allowing him to be with his family when they needed him most.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla also acknowledged that she\u2019s unsure what sharing online will look like moving forward, but she feels called to speak when she can.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know how much I\u2019m going to share. I don\u2019t know,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t know the details of it, but I do know that I want to share, and if it can help somebody who\u2019s going through the same thing, feel like they\u2019re not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alex finished the 2024 season with 68 regular-season appearances and pitched in seven postseason games.
