Zohran Mamdani hasn\u2019t officially transitioned into his position as mayor of New York City, but New York pregnancy centers are bracing for the worst. Rev. Jim Harden, CEO of CompassCare in Buffalo, NY,\u00a0told Fox News Digital<\/em><\/a> that he had some \u201csignificant concerns\u201d over the Mayor-elect\u2019s policies. Harden had previously written an op-ed<\/a> warning about the ways Mamdani could harm pro-life pregnancy centers. Harden noted that Mamdani has accused pro-life centers of spreading \u201cfalse or deceptive information\u201d and implied New Yorkers need to be protected from them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll let you in on a little secret: neither Mamdani nor ostensibly pro-abortion Democrats care about women\u2019s rights or abortion. If they did, they would recognize that abortion is the glove that covers the fingerprints of sex trafficking syndicates in NYC and that abortion increases a woman\u2019s risk of breast cancer by 44%, future preterm deliveries by 52%, and carries a 5X increased risk of suicide,\u201d wrote Harden. \u201cThey care about what abortion gives them. Ginning up the masses around women\u2019s rights propaganda is emotional manipulation serving only to gain public support to dismantle the rule of law under color of law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani has vowed to enforce \u201cLocal Law 17,\u201d which forces pregnancy centers to disclose whether they have licensed medical professionals. The measure also doubles the funding for the so-called Abortion Access Hub to $2M, which helps New Yorkers find abortion providers. The rule also requires pregnancy centers to list certain information at their sites. \u201cThat language may include anything from a list of what we do not provide, such as abortion, to a phone number referring women to an abortionist. Rule 17 itself represents a violation of First Amendment rights,\u201d said Harden.<\/p>\n

Harden admitted that as of right now, it\u2019s unclear what the future for New York pregnancy care centers will be. \u201cWe’re not exactly sure, you know, how pro-abortion Mayor-elect Mamdani is, because he’s Islamic, right. And the Muslim faith essentially prohibits abortion. But he also ran on a communist ticket,\u201d he said. \u201cSo he was piggybacking off of kind of a coalition of left-wing progressives, transgender, pro-abortion, environmentalism, etc. And so we’re not exactly sure which Mamdani is going to show up for work in January.” New York is a hard place to be for places like CompassCare, where Harden states abortion centers outnumber pregnancy care centers \u201c53 to 3.\u201d \u201cIf Mamdani were able to accomplish his ostensible goals according to his campaign to shut us down or somehow protect women from free medical care and community support, it would impact women in the Bronx,\u201d he warned.
