Religious conservatives have been attacking Obama for referring to the Islamic sacred text as the “Holy Koran.”
\nRobert Knight of Corald Ridge Ministries<\/a> says Obama’s speech in Cairo proved he has a “low view of Christianity” because, “If you’re a Christian, you don’t regard the Koran as a holy book of any sort. You regard it as springing out of the Old Testament, because it incorporates a lot of the Torah, as does the Christian Bible — but then it goes off into a false religion.”
\nPutting aside the notion that Presidents often use the language preferred by the practitioners of that faith, I wonder what Knight thinks of George W. Bush’s disdain for Christianity.
\nOn December 12, 2002, Bush said: <\/a><\/p>\n

“Ramadan commemorates the revelation of God’s word in the Holy Koran to the prophet Mohammad” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On November 15, 2001, Bush said:<\/a><\/p>\n

“The Islam that we know is a faith devoted to the worship of one God, as revealed through The Holy Qur’an. It teaches the value and the importance of charity, mercy, and peace.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On November 19, 2001, Bush said:<\/p>\n
