Originating near Pacific Palisades on January 7, the fire rapidly expanded due to severe drought conditions\u2014the driest nine-month period on record\u2014and intense Santa Ana winds, with gusts reaching up to 100 mph. These factors contributed to the fire’s swift progression, consuming nearly 16,000 acres and destroying approximately 1,000 structures within days.<\/p>\n

Over 180,000 residents have been evacuated, seeking refuge in shelters and neighboring communities. The fires have also led to widespread power outages, affecting hundreds of thousands of households and severely impacting air quality across the region.<\/p>\n

In response to the crisis, President Biden has declared a state of emergency, ensuring federal assistance for firefighting efforts and disaster relief.
