{"id":89,"date":"2011-06-17T12:00:54","date_gmt":"2011-06-17T16:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=89"},"modified":"2011-06-20T10:12:42","modified_gmt":"2011-06-20T14:12:42","slug":"poop-flakes-and-applesauce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2011\/06\/poop-flakes-and-applesauce.html","title":{"rendered":"Poop Flakes and Applesauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 My children used to always want to know what was for supper.\u00a0\u00a0 They would come in from school with that question on their minds and wouldn&#8217;t\u00a0\u00a0rest until they had an answer.\u00a0 Unfortunately, sometimes at 3:30 in the afternoon, I didn&#8217;t know what I was fixing for supper.\u00a0 My standard answer on those days was &#8216;poop flakes and applesauce&#8221;.\u00a0 We also might have, &#8216;hot snot and woolly worms&#8217; depending on the mood I was in.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Can you tell me how to make poop flakes?\u00a0 I know how to make fresh applesauce.\u00a0 Any good recipes for hot snot or wooly worms?\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t think so.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How I miss those days.\u00a0 Not because I was such a creative cook, but because we almost always had supper together as a family.\u00a0 We had some wonderful conversations.\u00a0 We had some heated discussions.\u00a0 We had some laughs and some tears, but at least we were all together for a few minutes.\u00a0 Now our family has not been together for nearly five years.
