{"id":527,"date":"2012-06-12T11:00:43","date_gmt":"2012-06-12T15:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=527"},"modified":"2012-06-11T10:23:23","modified_gmt":"2012-06-11T14:23:23","slug":"loving-john-deere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2012\/06\/loving-john-deere.html","title":{"rendered":"Loving John Deere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some people love cars, some boats, some like lots of clothes or collect bells or magnets.\u00a0 My husband loves anything John Deere.\u00a0 He was raised on a farm and drove a 1946B tractor for years.\u00a0 When his family didn&#8217;t farm anymore, they used the tractor to work up their garden and shovel snow from the driveway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2011\/09\/IMG_0376.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-534\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2011\/09\/IMG_0376-300x236.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>Then he started collecting toy John Deere tractors.\u00a0 Now he has a whole room done in John Deere.\u00a0 He even painted the bed green and yellow to match his bedspread.\u00a0 He has John Deere curtains, John Deere pictures, John Deere clocks, toys, coasters and so much more.\u00a0 He has John Deere shirts and pajamas, dishes and sheets.<\/p>\n<p>When we drive somewhere he can spot a John Deere tractor right away.\u00a0 He always comments on how he wished he still had the 1946B.<\/p>\n<p>You should see that old thing.\u00a0 It sure isn&#8217;t green anymore.\u00a0 It is rusty red, but still runs well and still can do the job when needed.\u00a0 The yellow on the wheels still shows a little and the engine still makes the traditional &#8220;putt, putt, putt&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>At the county fair or antiques machinery shows he\u00a0 practically drools over all the tractors.\u00a0 What a love he has for all things John Deere.\u00a0 This love isn&#8217;t something that drives him to distraction, but rather something that brings him enjoyment.\u00a0 I would rather be scrapbooking than looking at tractors,\u00a0 but to each his own.<\/p>\n<p>Hobbies are a good thing.\u00a0 They can take us away from our busy daily routines and give us a little down time.\u00a0 I used to collect teddy bears, all kinds of teddy bears.\u00a0 At one time I had over 400 bears in my house&#8230;but that&#8217;s another blog.\u00a0 The point is hobbies can be a good source of relaxation and fun.\u00a0 It can be a good way of building relationships with others with like interest.<\/p>\n<p>Go get a little teddy bear, put him on a little John Deere tractor and I will take some pictures.\u00a0 Then I&#8217;ll put them in a scrapbook.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some people love cars, some boats, some like lots of clothes or collect bells or magnets.\u00a0 My husband loves anything John Deere.\u00a0 He was raised on a farm and drove a 1946B tractor for years.\u00a0 When his family didn&#8217;t farm anymore, they used the tractor to work up their garden and shovel snow from the&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":420,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14,36],"tags":[74,40,95],"class_list":["post-527","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-inspiration","category-just-for-fun","tag-fathers-day","tag-hobbies","tag-just-for-fun"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
