{"id":451,"date":"2011-09-21T19:00:10","date_gmt":"2011-09-21T23:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=451"},"modified":"2012-09-20T14:57:30","modified_gmt":"2012-09-20T18:57:30","slug":"tomorrow-may-never-come","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2011\/09\/tomorrow-may-never-come.html","title":{"rendered":"Tomorrow May Never Come"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A friend of mine once told me, &#8220;Life is what happens while we&#8217;re busy making plans&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 That is so true.\u00a0 We spend much of our time planning what we will do next, instead of what we are doing right now.\u00a0 We plan to go to school.\u00a0 We plan to get married and have a family.\u00a0 We plan to build the perfect house.\u00a0 We plan that wonderful vacation or\u00a0big birthday party.<\/p>\n<p>While we are busy with all this planning, life is going on all around us and we fail to see it.\u00a0 Katie came home from school with a scrapped knee.\u00a0 Johnny lost his glasses.\u00a0 Jodee had a fight with her best friend.\u00a0\u00a0 Tyler broke his arm at wrestling practice.\u00a0 How do we react when our plans are interrupted by life?\u00a0 When you are looking at the new house plans, do you have time to kiss Katie&#8217;s knee?\u00a0 When you are making out your guest list, do you have time to run Tyler to the hospital for x rays, or does he wait until you have completed your plans?\u00a0 Today is where we need to be; not yesterday and not tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow may never come.\u00a0 We are not gaurenteed that we will see another day.\u00a0 James tells us that life is but a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes; James 4:13&amp;14.\u00a0 None of us know that exact time when our life will end.\u00a0 God alone has the right to decide such things.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew 6:34 tells us, &#8220;Take\u00a0 therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow will take thought for the things of itself.\u00a0 Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.&#8221;\u00a0 In other words, don&#8217;t waste time worrying about what will happen tomorrow, you have enough to deal with today.<\/p>\n<p>The balance is that we all have to make plans for some things in our lives, but we shouldn&#8217;t be so caught up in the future that we miss the wonders and opportunities of the present.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A friend of mine once told me, &#8220;Life is what happens while we&#8217;re busy making plans&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 That is so true.\u00a0 We spend much of our time planning what we will do next, instead of what we are doing right now.\u00a0 We plan to go to school.\u00a0 We plan to get married and have a family.\u00a0&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":420,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[19,29,13],"class_list":["post-451","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-encouragement","tag-faith","tag-family","tag-family-communications"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
