{"id":331,"date":"2011-08-25T20:19:45","date_gmt":"2011-08-26T00:19:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=331"},"modified":"2011-08-22T20:35:21","modified_gmt":"2011-08-23T00:35:21","slug":"sowing-and-reaping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2011\/08\/sowing-and-reaping.html","title":{"rendered":"Sowing and Reaping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2011\/08\/IMG_03131.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-355\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2011\/08\/IMG_03131-300x287.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a> It&#8217;s amost harvest time here in Ohio.\u00a0 Some things have already been harvested, like the wheat, hay, oats,\u00a0 rye and barley.\u00a0\u00a0 The cabbage is coming off now and the tomatoes have begun to turn red.\u00a0 We have fields of all kinds around this part of the state.\u00a0 The sweet corn is just about finished, but the field corn won&#8217;t be harvested until October.<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2011\/08\/IMG_03311.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-360\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2011\/08\/IMG_03311-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 We have a Heinz factory here that processes pickles and tomatoes.\u00a0 The Fremont Company makes sauerkraut from the cabbage fields.\u00a0 We used to have a sugar plant that made granulated sugar from sugar beets, but it moved out of town.\u00a0 We also have all kinds of\u00a0 fruits grown here: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, peaches, plums, apricots, grapes, watermelon, cantaloupes, pears, and many kinds of apples.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Bible has a lot to say about sowing and reaping.\u00a0 Jesus used farm principles to teach many parables.\u00a0 In Genesis 8:22, it tells us that as long as the earth remains\u00a0 seedtime and harvest shall not cease.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2 Corinthians 9:10 says, &#8220;He that sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he that sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.&#8221;\u00a0 So let&#8217;s sow lots of seed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Galatians 6:7 God tells us that we will reap whatever we sow.\u00a0 So let&#8217;s sow good seed.\u00a0 We will also reap the same kind fruit or vegetable as we plant.\u00a0 If we plant strawberries, we will reap strawberries.\u00a0 If we plant cabbage, we will harvest cabbage.\u00a0 Have you ever seen a carrot growing from tomato seeds?\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think so.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the spirtual\u00a0 realm this is also true.\u00a0 If we sow discord and lies, we will reap the same.\u00a0 If we sow love and compassion, we will harvest that also.\u00a0 We choose what we plant whether in the natural or in the spiritual.\u00a0 So if we want to have a harvest of peace and faithfulness, that is what we must plant.\u00a0 If we want our life to produce hope and contentment, that is what we must sow.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unfortunately, the same is true if we sow bad seeds like, hatred and jealousy, or fear and contempt.\u00a0 We all must choose what we want to produce in our walk with Jesus.\u00a0 This principle is like the law of gravity, we don&#8217;t have to believe for it to be true.\u00a0 God said it and He cannot and does not lie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s amost harvest time here in Ohio.\u00a0 Some things have already been harvested, like the wheat, hay, oats,\u00a0 rye and barley.\u00a0\u00a0 The cabbage is coming off now and the tomatoes have begun to turn red.\u00a0 We have fields of all kinds around this part of the state.\u00a0 The sweet corn is just about finished,&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":420,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[19,21],"class_list":["post-331","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-inspiration","tag-faith","tag-nature"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
