{"id":325,"date":"2011-08-22T16:46:25","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T20:46:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=325"},"modified":"2011-08-22T16:46:25","modified_gmt":"2011-08-22T20:46:25","slug":"camels-in-ohio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2011\/08\/camels-in-ohio.html","title":{"rendered":"Camels In Ohio?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2011\/08\/IMG_0323.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-335\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2011\/08\/IMG_0323-300x276.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"276\" \/><\/a>Imagine my surprise when I drove past our fair grounds last week and saw a bunch of camels roaming around near one of the horse barns.\u00a0 What in the world?\u00a0 Then a few days later I drove past and the same corral was full of llamas.\u00a0 I was just too curious, so I stopped to take pictures and talk to one of the caretakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It seems that these critters, plus some snakes, monkeys, and a white tiger have dropped\u00a0 in Fremont for a visit before they begin their fall tour with the Piccadilly Circus.\u00a0 These camels are about 6 years old; 3 males and 3 females.\u00a0 Two of the females are pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 Zack Garden, owner of Piccadilly Circus, said that nearly 200 people stop by daily to see the animals and take pictures.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rena, Joe, Gus, Cash, Sheba, and Jara don&#8217;t seem to mind all the attention.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not as hot here as in their natural home, the Arabian Desert.\u00a0 Although, one of them showed his teeth and growled at me.\u00a0 I guess he didn&#8217;t want to be in\u00a0 my blog.\u00a0 Another one was taking his morning shower.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2011\/08\/IMG_03281.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-337\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2011\/08\/IMG_03281-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>I didn&#8217;t get close enough to read their name tags, so I don&#8217;t\u00a0\u00a0know who growled at me, but I didn&#8217;t think it was very polite.\u00a0 I had to back up fast to avoid those big ugly teeth.\u00a0 Although, I guess it was my own fault for getting too close.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Sandusky County Fair begins next week and there will be camel rides.\u00a0 The other animals will be on display as well.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to see my new <strong>FRIENDS<\/strong>\u00a0 next week at the fair.\u00a0 I wonder if they will remember me.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Our God is so creative.\u00a0 I bet Adam had fun naming all these unusual animals.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sure he didn&#8217;t get bored, but I do wonder how he chose some of\u00a0the names he did.\u00a0 I just enjoy seeing them.\u00a0 I love all animals, even snakes, as long as they don&#8217;t take me by surprise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Imagine my surprise when I drove past our fair grounds last week and saw a bunch of camels roaming around near one of the horse barns.\u00a0 What in the world?\u00a0 Then a few days later I drove past and the same corral was full of llamas.\u00a0 I was just too curious, so I stopped&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":420,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[36],"tags":[21],"class_list":["post-325","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-just-for-fun","tag-nature"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Camels In Ohio?
