{"id":1788,"date":"2012-09-30T12:18:45","date_gmt":"2012-09-30T16:18:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=1788"},"modified":"2012-09-28T12:41:41","modified_gmt":"2012-09-28T16:41:41","slug":"small-but-very-wise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2012\/09\/small-but-very-wise.html","title":{"rendered":"Small But Very Wise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Proverbs 30\u00a0 tells us, &#8220;There are four things on earth that are small,\u00a0 but they are very wise.\u00a0 Ants are not very strong, but they store up food in the summer.\u00a0 Rock badgers are not very powerful, but they can live among the rock.\u00a0 Locusts have no king, but they all go forward in formation.\u00a0 Lizards can be caught in the hand, but they are also found even in the king&#8217;s palace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/09\/ants-on-a-leaf_27731691.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1800\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/09\/ants-on-a-leaf_27731691-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" \/><\/a>We may not be the strongest Christian in our church, or the most talented singer.\u00a0 We may not be the wealthiest person or in the best physical condition.\u00a0 We may not live in a palace or a\u00a020 million dollar\u00a0house or have eight fancy cars, but we can be wise.\u00a0 Our wisdom comes from God.\u00a0 Of course, we learn from our parents, teachers, and life experiences, but ultimately it all comes through our relationship with God.<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/09\/short-horned-grasshopper-pair1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1801\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/short-horned-grasshopper-pair1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When we get into a diffucult situation, we tend to seek out the opinions of other people.\u00a0 That&#8217;s not all bad because the Bible says there is safety in a multitude of counsel.\u00a0 But, often I believe we can work things out by ourselves if we will ask God for the answer and wait for Him to respond.<\/p>\n<p>Much of our wisdom comes from our daily living.\u00a0 Our problem solving skills become greater with each new challenge we face.\u00a0 That&#8217;s why a teenager doesn&#8217;t see problems the same as adults do.\u00a0 They simply lack the experiences to draw from.\u00a0 The wisest person who ever lived was Jesus. Solomon was pretty smart too.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t need to be the best at it, to make sound decisions.\u00a0 We all know right from wrong.\u00a0 We should all know what pleases God.<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/09\/grasshopper-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1799 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/grasshopper-2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One good way I have learned to make many difficult decesions is to ask myself, &#8220;What would Jesus do?&#8221;\u00a0 If we can imagine what His response would be, we will usually be right on target.\u00a0 Our earthly wisdom will fail us because sometimes we get our own opinions entangled with God&#8217;s word;\u00a0 sometimes we make decesions for selfish reasons, and sometimes we don&#8217;t have all the facts needed to make the\u00a0 right choice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/09\/ant33.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1802\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/ant33-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a>Jesus never fails!!\u00a0 He is always right.\u00a0 He is always just on time.\u00a0 His motives are always pure and unselfish.\u00a0 He is the beginning and the ending of all wisdom.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s try to be more like the ant or badger.\u00a0 Better yet, let&#8217;s strive to be more like Jesus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Proverbs 30\u00a0 tells us, &#8220;There are four things on earth that are small,\u00a0 but they are very wise.\u00a0 Ants are not very strong, but they store up food in the summer.\u00a0 Rock badgers are not very powerful, but they can live among the rock.\u00a0 Locusts have no king, but they all go forward in formation.\u00a0&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":420,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[65,3,14],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1788","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-bible","category-encouragement","category-inspiration"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
