{"id":1734,"date":"2012-09-07T14:22:27","date_gmt":"2012-09-07T18:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=1734"},"modified":"2012-09-03T17:39:35","modified_gmt":"2012-09-03T21:39:35","slug":"tthe-beauty-of-flowers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2012\/09\/tthe-beauty-of-flowers.html","title":{"rendered":"Tthe Beauty Of Flowers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another thing we really enjoy at the county fair is the flower competition.\u00a0 They have so many varieties; mums, dahlias, sunflowers, roses,.zinnias and some I&#8217;ve never seen before.\u00a0I love most flowers, but some are just plain ugly.\u00a0 I think snap dragons and the red velvet cones are at the top\u00a0 of that list.<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/IMG_03363.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1751 alignleft\" title=\"IMG_0336\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/IMG_03363.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bible makes many references to flowers.\u00a0 In Song of Solomon it calls Jesus the lily of the valley and the beautiful Rose of Sharon.\u00a0 These are both lovely flowers and the lily of the valley will make the air around it smell wonderful.\u00a0 Isaiah 35:1 tells us that when Israel is restored, even the wilderness and desert will rejoice and bloom as a rose.<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/09\/IMG_03353.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-1758\" title=\"IMG_0335\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/IMG_03353-300x228.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Matthew 6:28-34 \u00a0Jesus is talking about the lilies of\u00a0 the field.\u00a0 This scripture tells us that we have no reason to worry about temporal things.\u00a0 We can&#8217;t change things anyway and If God loves the lily of the field enough to care for it, surely He will provide for us.\u00a0 Flowers do not toil or spin; they do not worry about food or drink or clothing. But, God cares for them.<\/p>\n<p>If God cares that much about flowers, how much more does He care for us? He knows what we have need\u00a0 of before we even ask.\u00a0 He knows\u00a0our pain and heart ache.\u00a0 He knows our health conditions and family dynamics.\u00a0 He knows our circumstances and how it will all play out in the end.\u00a0 And, He loves us enough to make a way where there seems to be no way.<\/p>\n<p>What a good God we serve!\u00a0 Every minute of every day He is thinking of us, He is strengthening us.\u00a0 He is encouraging us and bringing hope to our lives.
