{"id":1661,"date":"2012-09-04T19:30:13","date_gmt":"2012-09-04T23:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=1661"},"modified":"2012-09-04T12:09:31","modified_gmt":"2012-09-04T16:09:31","slug":"fair-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2012\/09\/fair-food.html","title":{"rendered":"Fair Food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every August the Sandusky County Fair comes to our town.\u00a0\u00a0Nothing changes much from year to year accept the grandstand shows and the prices.\u00a0 One of the major attractions for us, senior citizens, is the food.\u00a0 I love the waffles and giant onion rings, Rich likes cotton candy and steak .<\/p>\n<p>We have attended this fair since we were both children and much\u00a0 of it hasn&#8217;t changed at all.\u00a0 Of course, all the prices have gone higher.\u00a0 I used to get waffles for .25 a piece, now they are nearly $1.00 each.\u00a0 We only got 5 onion rings for $5.50, but they were so worth it.\u00a0 Steak sandwiches, fries(1 order), and 1 lemonade cost over $15.00 this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/IMG_1178.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1741\" title=\"IMG_1178\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/09\/IMG_1178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a>One whole walkway at the fair was almost all food vendors.\u00a0 They had everything from pizza to sausage sandwiches, ice cream, salt water taffy, and snow cones.\u00a0 They had deep fried zucchini, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, and cauliflower.\u00a0 If you have a sweet tooth, try an elephant ear or carmel apple.\u00a0 If you can&#8217;t find something yummy to eat at the fair, you can&#8217;t be hungry.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, they also have all the cattle and horse barns the collections and artwork, the political tents and other organizations pushing their wares.\u00a0 We checked out the chickens and rabbits, the 4 H building, FFA exhiit and the Girl and Boy Scout tents.
