{"id":1630,"date":"2012-08-24T12:34:13","date_gmt":"2012-08-24T16:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=1630"},"modified":"2012-08-24T12:34:13","modified_gmt":"2012-08-24T16:34:13","slug":"bridges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2012\/08\/bridges.html","title":{"rendered":"Bridges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bridges are a good way of getting from one place to another.\u00a0 Usually they cross over water, or train tracks, traffic patterns, or maybe just a small stream.\u00a0 They can be composed of everything a board over a ditch to the Golden Gate Bridge that reaches across vast areas of water in California.\u00a0 We \u00a0have small bridges, like\u00a0Tindle Bridge over the Sandusky River or the Chesapeake Bay Bridge heading from Delaware to Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/08\/IMG_1008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1639\" title=\"IMG_1008\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/08\/IMG_1008.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"253\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a>The most interesting bridge I have ever crossed is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel.\u00a0 It is considered to be one of the engineering wonders of the world.\u00a0 It runs for 17.6 miles across the ocean, between Virginia Beach and Cape Charles, Virginia.\u00a0 This bridge includes 2 tunnels that run 40 to 50 feet under the bay.\u00a0 They even have a place to stop part way across this bridge to buy food an souvenirs.\u00a0 It&#8217;s quite amazing.<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/08\/IMG_1106.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1637\" title=\"IMG_1106\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/08\/IMG_1106-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we come up to a bridge that is closed because of flooding or is in need of repairs.\u00a0 Then we have to find another way to cross to the other side.\u00a0When we come to bridges in our life, we can be sure that God will always make a way for us to get where He wants us.<\/p>\n<p>With some bridges, it is best to burn them behind us.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t mean actual stone and iron bridges; but bridges\u00a0in our minds that allow us to go back and forth on any given principle.\u00a0 God provides mental bridges to help us make transitions to a new way of life.\u00a0 These bridges should be destroyed lest we go back to a place of spiritual death.\u00a0 In the spiritual realm, bridges are used to move us from one level of matuirty to the next, so why do we need to keep them in place?\u00a0 That only gives opportunity for us to move backwards instead of fowards.<\/p>\n<p>I have always loved bridges of any size and style.\u00a0 They are interesting and exciting to drive over.\u00a0 Bridges are just a part of life, they are not to be feared, but rather embraced for their help in our travels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bridges are a good way of getting from one place to another.\u00a0 Usually they cross over water, or train tracks, traffic patterns, or maybe just a small stream.\u00a0 They can be composed of everything a board over a ditch to the Golden Gate Bridge that reaches across vast areas of water in California.\u00a0 We \u00a0have&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":420,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14,36],"tags":[42,19,95],"class_list":["post-1630","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-inspiration","category-just-for-fun","tag-choices","tag-faith","tag-just-for-fun"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
