Sometimes when I’m teaching my Sunday School class, the children get a bit too loud for me. I can’t really teach because they are talking and not listening.\u00a0 I will begin speaking in just a whisper and say things like, “If you can hear me\u00a0 raise your hand” or “If you can here me, come up and get a treasure from my treasure chest.”\u00a0 It only takes one or two\u00a0students to respond and soon I have all their attention again.<\/p>\n
I think sometimes God speaks in whispers to see if we are listening.\u00a0 We spend a lot of our “PRAYER TIME” doing all the talking. all the requesting, and all the complaining.\u00a0To have a meaningful\u00a0conversation we need more than one voice. God loves to converse with his children.\u00a0 He is excited to hear us praise Him and be thankful.\u00a0 He wants us to tell Him all our troubles and needs.\u00a0 But, He also wants to speak to us.<\/p>\n
Sometimes He speaks through others, sometimes He speaks through dreams and visions, some times He speaks through the sciptures ,some have even heard the audible voice of God. But, I think sometimes He simply whispers.\u00a0 If we aren’t paying attention, we won’t hear Him.\u00a0 He tells us in……”Be still and know that I am God”.<\/p>\n
In our fast paced society, it is at times difficult to be still before the Lord.\u00a0 We ar so busy doing things for the Lord and requesting of the Lord, that often we forget to listen.\u00a0 That really is a sad statement.\u00a0 We should never be too busy to listen to God.\u00a0 In the grand scheme of things, our listening skills can save us a lot of frustration and trouble.<\/p>\n
What if Noah had not been listening when God told him to build the ark?\u00a0 What if David had not been listening when God told him not to cut off Saul’s garment?\u00a0 What if Esther had not been listening when she went uninvited before the king?\u00a0 Their listening skills changed the history of the world.<\/p>\n
