{"id":1401,"date":"2012-06-21T17:58:46","date_gmt":"2012-06-21T21:58:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=1401"},"modified":"2012-06-19T13:50:33","modified_gmt":"2012-06-19T17:50:33","slug":"crazy-daisies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2012\/06\/crazy-daisies.html","title":{"rendered":"Crazy Daisies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have all heard the saying, &#8220;the grass is greener on the other side of the fence&#8221;.\u00a0 I think my daisies have decided that, &#8220;the dirt is browner on the other side of the yard&#8221;.\u00a0 They normally are only planted in my north flowerbed, but this year they are everywhere.\u00a0 I have daisies in the front rose bed.\u00a0 I have daisies in the strawberry patch,\u00a0 I even have daisies blooming in my vegetable garden.\u00a0 How did that happen?<a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/06\/IMG_0847.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1417\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/06\/IMG_0847.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"281\" height=\"295\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have determined that the birds must have carried the seed hither and yon, lighting wherever it desired.\u00a0 They are quite pretty and I love them, but I would prefer that they stay where they belong.\u00a0 My roses may ramble and my tulips multiply, but my daisies need a little discipline in their lives.<\/p>\n<p><span>I don&#8217;t think daisies get restless, but people do.\u00a0 We tend to think that Mrs. <span>Durn<\/span> has a better life than we do.\u00a0 And we know for sure that the neighbor, Carl has more cars that we do.\u00a0 Why do always want more stuff, bigger stuff, and stuff that belongs to someone else?\u00a0 We in America have become quite spoiled.\u00a0 We want it all&#8212;-except to be responsible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/files\/2012\/06\/IMG_0848.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1418\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/259\/2012\/06\/IMG_0848-300x241.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>Paul said in Philippians 4:11-12, that he had learned to be content in whatever state he found himself.\u00a0 We would spare ourselves a lot of trouble if we could learn the principle.\u00a0 My daisies should have been content to stay in their proper place.\u00a0 We should learn to be happy with what God provides for us.\u00a0 That doesn&#8217;t mean we don&#8217;t try to improve ourselves or to grow spiritually and mentally.\u00a0 We should continually &#8220;press toward the mark for the prize of the calling of God in Christ Jesus&#8221;, Philippians 3:14.\u00a0 But, we also need to &#8220;bloom where God has planted us&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Always wanting a better church, a public ministry, or more recognition is not the way to be happy.\u00a0 We used to sing an old church song called Trust and Obey.\u00a0 The chorus said, &#8220;Trust and obey, for there&#8217;s no other way, to be happy in Jesus; but to trust and obey.&#8221;\u00a0 We should\u00a0 trust Him for all we need and obey Him for whatever He asks.\u00a0 We can trust Him and be thankful for His provision.\u00a0 A thankful heart is not one that is easily swayed.\u00a0 Count your blessings and grow where God has planted you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have all heard the saying, &#8220;the grass is greener on the other side of the fence&#8221;.\u00a0 I think my daisies have decided that, &#8220;the dirt is browner on the other side of the yard&#8221;.\u00a0 They normally are only planted in my north flowerbed, but this year they are everywhere.\u00a0 I have daisies in the&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":420,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3,36],"tags":[76,77],"class_list":["post-1401","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-encouragement","category-just-for-fun","tag-gardens","tag-trust-and-obey"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.9 -
