The strawberry season in Ohio is just coming to an end.\u00a0 What a sad day that will be.\u00a0 I love strawberry anything.\u00a0 We recently went out to Polter’s Berry Farm and bought some berries.\u00a0 When our kids were little we would\u00a0go as a family and ‘pick your own’ berries.\u00a0 Now it’s just easier to buy them already picked.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Polters’ have over 17 acres just in strawberries.\u00a0 They employ many migrant workers and pick over 8000 quarts of berries a day\u00a0during the peak of the season.\u00a0 They supply the area grocery stores as well as sell to the public from their little stand.\u00a0 Some of those who ‘pick their own’, only go for the largest berries, but the small ones are the sweetest.\u00a0 They make the best jams and jellies too.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What shall we have for supper tonight? Strawberry short cake, strawberry pie, toast with strawberry jam, or strawberry pancakes?\u00a0 They all sound good to me.\u00a0 Then we can have strawberries and ice cream for desert, or a strawberry milk shake or smoothie.<\/p>\n

I also put a bunch in the freezer so we can can strawberries for Christmas and strawberries for Valentine’s Day,\u00a0 maybe even strawberries for Easter.\u00a0 I know, chocolate covered strawberries or strawberry filled eggs.\u00a0 By then we can get fresh berries from the store.\u00a0 They won’t taste as good as Polters’ berries, I can make them work.<\/p>\n

In Ecclesiastes 3 we are told, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven.”\u00a0 Alas, the strawberry season is over, but it will be back again next spring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
