It can be a bit un-nerving.\u00a0 I remember as a child when the construction workers were working on the road in front of our house, they used smudge pots to shed enough light so one didn&#8217;t fall over their mess during the night.\u00a0 They were ugly, round and black balls filled with oil and a wick to burn.\u00a0 They smelled awful, but they did give a little light.<\/p>\n<p>Many nights the neighborhood kids would play hide and seek or tell spooky stories by the light of those smudge pots.\u00a0 At times we even tried to roll them over or blow them out, but they didn&#8217;t go easily.\u00a0 To be all alone during the late night with only these lights was quite scary.<\/p>\n<p>Christians\u00a0 often experience these same feelings of dread and fear as they travel through the dark places in life.\u00a0 The world is a place of darkness.\u00a0 Our society is full of dark things and dark ideas.\u00a0 Some times we stumble and fall in the ditch in that darkness.\u00a0 Sometimes we allow ourselves to trip and fall into these places where the light does not shine.<\/p>\n<p>But, I have good news for you.\u00a0 Jesus is our light.\u00a0 His light is bright and revealing.\u00a0 It is beautiful and eternal.\u00a0 His light can guide us through the darkest places in this world.\u00a0 No one can put out His marvelous light.\u00a0 In John\u00a0 8:12 Jesus said, &#8220;I am the light of the world: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jesus tells us in Ephesians 5:8 &#8220;For you were at one time in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.: walk as children of light.&#8221;\u00a0 We don&#8217;t have to stumble our way through life if we walk in His light.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t have to fear the unknown when we trust in the all knowing One.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t have to yield to the dark things of this world when we are consumed by the light of God.<\/p>\n<p>In I John 1:5-7 \u00a0it says, &#8220;This is then the message we have heard of Him and declare unto to you, that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.\u00a0 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie\u00a0 and do not the truth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s choose this day to walk in His light.\u00a0 In this way we will never have to fear the darkness.\u00a0 We know He will always bring light to the situaton and grace to you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever had to walk somewhere in total darkness?
