{"id":1061,"date":"2012-07-23T19:00:05","date_gmt":"2012-07-23T23:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/smalltownamerica\/?p=1061"},"modified":"2012-07-23T14:46:20","modified_gmt":"2012-07-23T18:46:20","slug":"wearing-pjs-in-all-the-wrong-places","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/smalltownamerica\/2012\/07\/wearing-pjs-in-all-the-wrong-places.html","title":{"rendered":"Wearing PJs in all the Wrong Places!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever been walking through Walmart or Krogers and saw someone in their PJs and slippers?\u00a0 Since when is this the right way to dress?\u00a0 There are signs posted in many stores and restaurants stating, &#8220;no shoes, no shirt&#8230;no service&#8221;.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s time to make a sign that says, &#8220;Wearing pajamas and slippers&#8230; no service&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A lawmaker in Louisiana is planning to pass an ordinance banning the wearing of pajama pants in public.\u00a0 Apparently some of the young men in his district were\u00a0 revealing way too much of themselves.\u00a0 This proposal then sparked quite a debate on line.<\/p>\n<p>One blogger supported wearing PJs out because if she put on regular clothes she would have to fix her hair and put on makeup.\u00a0 Others thought that PJs in public was a sign of one being a lazy slob.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know that I would go that far.\u00a0 I know people who do go out dressed this way and they aren&#8217;t lazy or unkempt, they just want to be comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>I remember when I was a teenager they used to have &#8220;come as you are parties&#8221;,\u00a0 the teens would come to their friends door and invite them to the party.\u00a0 Whatever they were wearing is what they had to wear to the party.\u00a0 We saw some mighty funny outfits, including PJs and girls with rollers in their hair.\u00a0 It was lots of fun, but sometimes a bit embarrassing, but that was the purpose of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you want to dress this way or not, should be a personal choice.\u00a0 If you are indeed showing too much skin or other body\u00a0atributes, each business establishment should post and monitor their own rules.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t do it, but my grand\u00a0-kids do.\u00a0 They really aren&#8217;t hurting anyone as long as the clothes are clean and suitably fit.<\/p>\n<p>I love living in America and enjoying all the freedoms we enjoy.\u00a0 Why do the politicians have to try to control everything?\u00a0 Whether it local, state, or national elected officials, don&#8217;t they have bigger fish to fry?<\/p>\n<p>In one community they have a &#8220;no sagging pants&#8221; ordinance.\u00a0 Law enforcement officials report they had 31 violations last year?\u00a0 Is this what we pay our police to do?\u00a0 Can you see a pair of officers running down the alley chasing a person in his\/her pajamas?\u00a0 While they are doing this, someone could really need their assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes I think we just have too much time on our hands, so we have to think up ways to keep busy.\u00a0 Or maybe we just have control issues\u00a0 and need counseling.\u00a0 At any rate, this issue is like so many others; a personal choice.
