{"id":3454,"date":"2013-03-21T06:28:56","date_gmt":"2013-03-21T10:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/?p=3454"},"modified":"2013-03-21T06:33:42","modified_gmt":"2013-03-21T10:33:42","slug":"eating-fish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/simplelife\/2013\/03\/eating-fish.html","title":{"rendered":"Eating fish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/03\/eating-fish.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3455\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/03\/eating-fish.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a>We all know that when you eat fish you will usually come across a bone or two no matter how carefully the fish has been filleted. \u00a0We also know that the bones aren&#8217;t digestible and should be spit out. \u00a0Fish bones, in fact, can be dangerous; but that fact never kept me from eating and appreciating fish.<\/p>\n<p>I often approach authors in the same way. \u00a0I almost never agree with everything that I read. \u00a0At times, I&#8217;ve found that I&#8217;m wrong and that what I rejected was a truth that I didn&#8217;t want to accept. \u00a0That is usually became of some pride or greed in my life. \u00a0However, in reading, I simply spit out the parts with which I don&#8217;t agree.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/03\/samson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3456\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/03\/samson.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a>In watching the new TV series,\u00a0<em>The Bible<\/em>, I&#8217;ve done a lot of bone spitting. \u00a0In this way, I&#8217;ve thoroughly savored it. \u00a0The entire Bible is being speed-enacted in 10 hours. \u00a0When you condense 6,000 years of history into five segments of TV, there must be some distortions and misgivings.<\/p>\n<p>I confess that portions of the enactments have made me laugh. \u00a0When one of Lot&#8217;s angelic visitors turned out to be a Ninja warrior, I roared with laughter as he whirled and spun with the ease and graceful moves of a Hollywood stunt man. \u00a0In contrast, the Negro Samson wasn&#8217;t nearly as unrealistic as the nearly blond Jesus. \u00a0I&#8217;d always picture Samson as a slight man who gained his strength when the Spirit of God came on him. \u00a0But that could because all my life I&#8217;ve been surrounded by extremely strong men who were short in statue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/03\/david.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3457\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/03\/david.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Yet, all in all, the series has been mind-bending to watch.
