{"id":3418,"date":"2013-01-25T16:50:55","date_gmt":"2013-01-25T21:50:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/?p=3418"},"modified":"2013-02-06T16:55:59","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T21:55:59","slug":"the-philosophy-of-the-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/simplelife\/2013\/01\/the-philosophy-of-the-blog.html","title":{"rendered":"The Philosophy of the blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/02\/globe.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-3419\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/02\/globe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"158\" height=\"158\" \/><\/a>I am often surprised at where blog entries go and even more surprised where they do not go. \u00a0It seems that each time I plug into another venue (Facebook, Pinterest, etc.), there are new readers. \u00a0At this point, other than the US, the country where this blog is most read is Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Because my emphasis is the lives of people who are mentally challenged, I\u2019m also aware that the pool in which I\u2019m swimming is pretty limited. \u00a0However, it isn\u2019t unusual for me to get 150 to 200 hits a day.<\/p>\n<p>When I began blogging six years ago, I could not find anyone else who was doing a daily blog or even a monthly blog in the area of intellectual disabilities. \u00a0However, today almost everyone who is in disability ministry is blogging. \u00a0This is a very good thing. \u00a0The more voices, the more people have the opportunity to understand the wonderful world in which we live and serve.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/02\/writers-hand.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3420\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/02\/writers-hand.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a>In addition, people with disabilities, especially those people whose disability is within the autism spectrum, are blogging regularly. \u00a0If you haven\u2019t seen any of their blogs simply google \u201cAspergers\u201d and you will find some excellent places to learn about this interesting personality spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>Blogging is a way of self-publishing and having access to a world-wide audience at no expense to you or your reader. \u00a0By blogging each day, you are able to push your blog up to the forefront of the Search Engine World. \u00a0By keeping your blogs interesting and thoughtful, or humorous and pithy, you will be able to gather an audience, no matter what your subject area.<\/p>\n<p>My purpose and message has been to simply introduce people to folks who are intellectually disabled and the fact that they can have a vital and real relationship with the Lord. \u00a0This past year, I\u2019ve not kept up my daily vigor. \u00a0However, people still come and people still read. \u00a0For that I am most grateful and humbled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am often surprised at where blog entries go and even more surprised where they do not go. \u00a0It seems that each time I plug into another venue (Facebook, Pinterest, etc.), there are new readers. \u00a0At this point, other than the US, the country where this blog is most read is Australia.
