{"id":3391,"date":"2013-02-04T15:14:16","date_gmt":"2013-02-04T20:14:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/?p=3391"},"modified":"2013-12-05T14:07:55","modified_gmt":"2013-12-05T19:07:55","slug":"remember","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/simplelife\/2013\/02\/remember.html","title":{"rendered":"Remember"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/02\/remember.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-3395\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2013\/02\/remember.jpg\" width=\"113\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>Perhaps one of the greatest virtues and joys of a Christian is remembering. \u00a0We often overlook the command that Jesus gave to us during the Lord\u2019s Supper. \u00a0He said, \u201cDo this so you will remember me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/specialgathering.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/02\/remember-me.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"remember me\" src=\"https:\/\/specialgathering.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/02\/remember-me.jpg?w=510\" width=\"256\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a>Time and time again in the Old and New Testaments we are instructed to remember. \u00a0Many of the emotional and mental hardships we experience in our daily spiritual walk stem from neglecting this discipline. \u00a0Ignored or passed over without much thought or meditation, we stumble day after day because we forget the grace, mercy and promises of God.<\/p>\n<p>From the beginning, when Eve took the first bite of that forbidden fruit, a large part of her problem was not remembering. \u00a0She had forgotten the promise and instruction of God. \u00a0She didn\u2019t completely remember what God had told her and Adam about eating the fruit.<\/p>\n<p>Again and again as the people of God fail to live for him, it is too often a remembering problem. \u00a0Deliberate sin is not as much a concern for most of us as neglecting the small things.<\/p>\n<p>As my big project for 2013, I\u2019ve taken on the task of cleaning out the garage.\u00a0That messy cavern holds years of work, hopes and dreams of my late husband. \u00a0It was his shop, his hideout and his sanctuary. \u00a0As I scrub, paint, sort and toss, I remember that so much of his life revolved around a great dream of changing the world through a machine that produced unlimited energy. \u00a0He didn\u2019t accomplish his dream;
