Central Theme:\u00a0 Prayer is a cry for help.<\/p>\n

Introduction–I have a friend who has a poster.\u00a0 It says,\u00a0 \u201cWhen things are so bad or scary that you don\u2019t know what to prayer, memorize this prayer and pray it:\u00a0 HELP!\u00a0 God gives us prayer so that we can ask for help.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Have a member read Psalm 121:12<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tell the story of Samuel and the Philistines (I Samuel 7:4-11)<\/p>\n

A. God sent the Philistines to punish the Israelites.<\/p>\n

B.\u00a0 The Israelites repented and Samuel prayed for help.<\/p>\n

C. God sent lightning and thunder and the Philistines were scared and ran away.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0 II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Praying for help is usually what we do best but somethings keep us from asking for help.<\/p>\n

A. We have sin in our lives and we don\u2019t want to talk with God.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 This can be subtle and sneaky.<\/p>\n

B.\u00a0 We think we can handle the mess ourselves because we are prideful.<\/p>\n

C. We are looking to other people for all our help–professionals and parents.<\/p>\n
