\"\"<\/a>Memorizing was all but impossible for me as a child. \u00a0In addition, the school system was going through a funky teaching period. \u00a0We did not learn to read phonetically. \u00a0And teachers were not allowed to teach us any mnemonics\u00a0to make the task of memorizing\u00a0simpler. \u00a0As an adult, I was challenged by a pastor to memorize the 10 commandments. \u00a0I felt this pastor was speaking straight into my heart and the Holy Spirit was saying that it was time for me to buckle down and learn His Top Ten Laws.<\/p>\n

I found that memorizing them in order was the easiest way to remember. \u00a0Additionally, it is my personal opinion that these ten laws are arranged by God in an order of importance. \u00a0The first three commandments relate solely to our relationship with the Lord. \u00a0I have paraphrased them because I find them easier to keep in my memory bank this way.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>1. \u00a0You shall have not other God’s before me.<\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Don’t bow down to worship any God, except me.<\/p>\n

3. \u00a0Keep my name holy and don’t use my name for anything other than talking about me or talking to me.<\/p>\n

The next commandment deals with the a sabbath day of rest.<\/p>\n

4. \u00a0Keep one day for resting and keep that day holy before me.<\/p>\n

Then the commandment with promise:<\/p>\n

5. \u00a0Honor your father and mother and you are going to live a long life.<\/p>\n

The next five I’ve remembered by looking at four pictures on my wall that are arranged in an square and I remember the first letter of important action in the commandment. \u00a0The letters are: \u00a0MASL. \u00a0I say the commandments in a circular way in my mind making a letter C. \u00a0In this way, I remember all the commandments in order:<\/p>\n

6. \u00a0You shall not M<\/strong>urder<\/p>\n

7. \u00a0Yu shall not commit A<\/strong>dultry.<\/p>\n

8. \u00a0You shall not S<\/strong>teal.<\/p>\n

9. \u00a0You shall not L<\/strong>ie. \u00a0(That is bear false witness against your neighbor but we generally \u00a0transliterate that into lying.)<\/p>\n

10. \u00a0You shall not C<\/strong>ovet.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>When teaching lessons on the commandments, I taught all ten of them to the members of my class of adults who are mentally challenged. \u00a0In only two or three weeks, they had learned all of them and in the correct order. \u00a0I hope you find this beneficial. \u00a0I’ve been surprised many adults in the church have no idea what the ten commandments are. \u00a0As you see they aren’t hard to learn. \u00a0In fact, most of us know them. \u00a0Because we aren’t able to recite them on the tip of our tongue, we believe that we don’t actually know them. \u00a0Learning the commandments in order also helps us to remember them all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
