{"id":2086,"date":"2011-11-15T07:52:47","date_gmt":"2011-11-15T12:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/?p=2086"},"modified":"2011-11-16T09:59:57","modified_gmt":"2011-11-16T14:59:57","slug":"gods-post-it-notes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/simplelife\/2011\/11\/gods-post-it-notes.html","title":{"rendered":"God&#8217;s Post-it Notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps like you, I received an e-mail that contained some great little, humorous sayings, such as, \u201cDon\u2019t let your worries\u00a0get the best of you.\u00a0 Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0I printed them out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/files\/2011\/11\/baby-in-a-basket.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2087\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/11\/baby-in-a-basket-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>After picking\u00a0them up this morning, the sayings \u00a0started me thinking.\u00a0 Often we reduce our Christian experience to cute sayings and convenient platitudes.\u00a0 Don\u2019t get me wrong.\u00a0 I enjoy these lovely or goofy sayings as much as anyone.\u00a0 My concern is that my relationship with the Lord should never become a \u201clittle post-it note from the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A wonderful young man whom I love very much was thrilled to tell me last week that he had joined the Church of Latter Day Saint.\u00a0 \u201cThey were able to answer ALL my questions.\u00a0 Nothing was left as a mystery.\u201d\u00a0 This young man eager to understand God was impressed that this religion could teach him in a few hours everything about God that he needed to know.\u00a0 This is the third or fourth person who has become a Mormon who has told me that the reason they converted was because\u00a0 \u201cthey answered all my questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/11\/postit-notes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2088\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/11\/postit-notes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a>God will never answer all our questions and that is the joy of becoming a Christian.\u00a0 There is always something else to learn\u2013another mystery to uncover.\u00a0 Even the most foundational principles of Christ\u2019s love have layers and depths that the most simple or complex minds can uncover but\u00a0we never reach the end of their heights, width or depths.\u00a0 Whether\u00a0you have the IQ of a genius or you are mentally challenged, Paul tells us that many things about God\u00a0are a great mystery. \u00a0Yet, the principles we need to know to have a relationship with the Lord are easy enough to understand.\u00a0 In addition, the Holy Spirit reveals things to even the simplest minds that those of us who have greater intellect can\u2019t seem to figure out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/11\/Jesus-on-the-cross.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2089\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/11\/Jesus-on-the-cross.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a>Waking each morning, we can all understand how serious God feels about our relationship.\u00a0 He gave his life to redeem us and to gain our love.\u00a0 There is little that I can say that you haven\u2019t heard before now.\u00a0 Yet, we can never out love or fully understand this amazing God who wasn\u2019t satisfied for us to live and die without him.\u00a0 In fact, to quote a songwriter, \u201cHe would rather die than ever\u00a0live without us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That isn\u2019t a clich\u00e9 but God\u2019s truth wrapped in love.\u00a0 This is a love that we can never understand but only accept and embrace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps like you, I received an e-mail that contained some great little, humorous sayings, such as, \u201cDon\u2019t let your worries\u00a0get the best of you.\u00a0 Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0I printed them out.
