{"id":1772,"date":"2011-10-03T01:00:38","date_gmt":"2011-10-03T05:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/?p=1772"},"modified":"2011-10-02T20:59:15","modified_gmt":"2011-10-03T00:59:15","slug":"an-enduring-promise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/simplelife\/2011\/10\/an-enduring-promise.html","title":{"rendered":"An enduring promise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve always been intrigued by Proverbs 25:2 that tells us, &#8220;It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, to search out a matter is the glory of kings&#8221;\u00a0 (NIV). \u00a0For reasons of His own, God chooses to conceal many matters from the world and even his children.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/files\/2011\/10\/flowers-images.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1773 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/10\/flowers-images-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>However, most things have been made plain enough. \u00a0Here are some of the enduring promises that quietly stroke our hearts with the reality of God&#8217;s endless love.<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0The restorative ability of the earth. \u00a0Scientists tell us that left alone, the swamp, rivers, the ocean and the forests return to their natural state. \u00a0This speaks to me of God&#8217;s ability to restore lives and clean up the messes I make daily.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0The miracle of a new baby and the unbelievable love that child brings with her life.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0New species of plants and fowl that appear each time there is a severe storm, such as a hurricane. \u00a0The landscape of Central Florida has been slowly changing by the hurricanes that have moved through our area. \u00a0I marvel at the way this new vegetation not only survives but thrives. \u00a0This seems to clearly show the a multitude of ways that God teaches us and loves us. \u00a0While he never changes, his ways are varied and many.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1774\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/10\/CA_Sequoia_Tree_Wawona-187x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"187\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0How trees turn to face the sun. \u00a0Seeking the life-giving \u00a0rays, the branches force themselves through hardness and protective covering to be able to have the sun&#8217;s light. \u00a0Each of us would be wise to spare no expense to find God, seeking him with all our heart, soul and spirit.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0How a tree planted by the river seems to grow without effort. \u00a0It encourages me to stay close to the Lord and his love.<\/p>\n<p>God&#8217;s enduring promises are many but the ones that are glued on the walls of my heart are the simplest ones of all. \u00a0He loves me. \u00a0He will never leave me. \u00a0He forgives me. \u00a0He sent his only Son to die for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve always been intrigued by Proverbs 25:2 that tells us, &#8220;It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, to search out a matter is the glory of kings&#8221;\u00a0 (NIV). \u00a0For reasons of His own, God chooses to conceal many matters from the world and even his children.
