Reaching back through thousands of years of history, the Jewish community has been known as People of the Book.\u00a0 Their need to read and understand the Torah and their other holy scriptures has traditionally been the driving force to educate all Jews.\u00a0 The end result has led the way in teaching and training their future leadership. Affiliated with Temple Beth Shalom, Brevard Jewish Community School (BJCS) boasts 58 students who are taught at and above grade level. The school director, Bertrice Vasconi emphasized one important difference found at BJCS over the traditional private religious school, \u201cEach student is given an hour a day of Hebrew class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A microcesum of how the Jewish Federation works nationwide, Howard Rothman, President of the Jewish Federation of Brevard (JFB) reported, \u201cWorks within the Jewish community to support the common interest of the Jewish community though education, social services and support of Israel.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0In Brevard County\u00a0Temples, two Hebrew classes are held.\u00a0 Additionally, they work to educate the local public school population to the reality of the holocaust. The JFB provides scholarships for young adults and older teens to travel to Israel, as an educational venture to learn about their Jewish past, present and future.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/files\/2011\/08\/imag01961.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1363\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/08\/imag01961-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Rockledge Christian School (RCS) has a 22 year history of providing quality education in Brevard.\u00a0 They have become a diversity center for students of many different ethnic groups and socio-economic levels.\u00a0 One parent said, \u201cAfter looking at many different private schools, our family chose RCS because of the diversity among the students.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t want our child to be isolated from the richness of different cultures. RCS was our answer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Using the Step-Up for Students Scholarships, RCS has been able to obtain and maintain this diverse culture in their school.\u00a0 The Step-Up for Students Scholarships are controlled and monitored by the State of Florida but funded by local businesses that see the needs of minority and underprivileged children to receive the advantage of a private school education.<\/p>\n<p>Rockledge Christian currently has 146 students representing a minimum of six ethnic groups.\u00a0 \u201cWe never divide our students into dissimilar groups.\u00a0 They are all students,\u201d reported Rosie Glover, Registrar for RCS.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur desire at Rockledge Christian is to partner with parents who want their children to have a quality education with a Biblical world-view.\u00a0 Our goal includes making their learning experience as diverse as possible,\u201d Principal Ken Kerstetter stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Christian schools providing\u00a0unique educational benefits\u00a0dot the landscape across the US.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0There are than 40 community-based Christian schools in Brevard County that\u00a0range from Titusville\u2019s First United Methodist Pre-school to Holy Trinity Episcopal School in South Brevard which serves every age from pre-school to 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade.\u00a0 Many of the upper-level students at Holy Trinity\u00a0hold duel enrollment with their local community college, graduating with a good portion of their college academics program completed. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/simplelife\/files\/2011\/08\/504x3631.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1364\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/234\/2011\/08\/504x3631-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The success of Holy Trinity\u2019s academic program is shown by their recent move to a second&#8211;though larger&#8211;campus.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to their emphasis on academic excellence, Holy Trinity has an active and progressive arts\/music department which produces several musicals each school year.\u00a0 This year\u2019s productions were entitled <em>Willie Wonka<\/em> and <em>Honk. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Working hard to provide quality education that makes a\u00a0difference in the\u00a0lives of their student, Temple and Christians school endeavor to set the standard and to\u00a0train the entire\u00a0person&#8211;spirit, mind and\u00a0body.\u00a0 In the world of educational institutions, the faith community\u00a0stands tall proclaming that\u00a0the lives and education of\u00a0children are not for sale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Education is an area in which the religious community has excelled.
