During that season they also solicit through mail appeals.\u00a0 In Brevard County, Florida, alone,\u00a0as much as $600,000 is raised during their annual public fund drive.\u00a0 The Army receives this collective money and uses it in multiple ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They will provide groceries for the homeless man who stumbles into their facility on his familiar trek to the warmer Miami sunshine. The funds provide social workers for a mother who needs a job to support her three children.\u00a0 A portion of the monies will be used to secure clothes for a kindergartener who clings ashamedly behind the pants of his adoring but hurting father.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The North Brevard Corps is led by Major Jack and Sharon Owens. The South Brevard Corps is headed by Major Time and Captain Denise Williford. The Army\u2019s mission statement asserts, \u201cThe Salvation Army which is an international movement is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.\u00a0 Its message is based on the Bible.\u00a0 Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.\u00a0 Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n
