Starting a writing career means ups and downs, highs and lows, and lots of patience. . .like life.<\/p>\n
You submit emails to literary agents, pieces for publication, and you put yourself out there in your writing. \u00a0Like waiting for a boy to call you back in high school, it’s nerve-wracking and you doubt your worth sometimes.\u00a0 You wait. \u00a0You wonder. \u00a0You ask for signs.<\/p>\n
I always tell people to ask for signs.\u00a0 And if you think it’s your sign, it is.\u00a0 You can ask God-Source-Universe-Divine-Higher Power to give you a sign on what is the right choice or that you’re going in the right direction.\u00a0 You must be paying attention to get your signs.\u00a0 If you are rushing around and not living in the moment, you might miss them.\u00a0 I live a big life (my word for busy), so I get it. \u00a0I have five kids, so driving in the car by myself is like a holy experience in itself. \u00a0It’s so calm and quiet. \u00a0But I love music. \u00a0So I always have it on loud.<\/p>\n
One of my songs that comes on to let me know God is cheering me on is, “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey. \u00a0I will admit, I’ve ended up in happy tears over this one.\u00a0 Call me crazy, it wouldn’t be the first time. \u00a0It makes me feel good and it’s my truth. \u00a0I have many, specifically “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” by Bachman-Turner Overdrive where in my bones, I feel it’s God saying. . .Honey, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet, more good is to come, it will blow your mind.\u00a0 It fills me with joy actually. \u00a0“Spirit In The Sky” by Norman Greenbaum” is one that I want played at my own funeral.\u00a0 It reminds me of the unconditional love from God in the joyful tone of the song.\u00a0 Some may think it’s dorky or cheesy, but being spiritual is cool and quite badass. \u00a0“Fireworks” by Katy Perry” and “Eye Of The Tiger” by Survivor are up there on my top list of God songs.\u00a0 Oh, and “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield also, perfect for a writer like me.<\/p>\n
In society today, we’re all about immediate results, when really our careers, or journeys, our lives unfold slowly.\u00a0 Our first try at something will not be about reaching our goal, but it will be practice.\u00a0 I don’t look at anything as a failure, it just didn’t pan out the way I thought.\u00a0 There is another path for me to take.\u00a0 You don’t see birds giving up if they can’t take flight the first time.\u00a0 Failure is not any option in their world.\u00a0 They instinctually live.\u00a0 They aren’t overthinking or second-guessing themselves.\u00a0 I bet they get their signs.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 I’ve also gotten bird symbols, but that’s for another day.<\/p>\n
We’ve been taught to trust facts over our intuition, when really our intuition is God nudging us in the right direction.\u00a0 Why not\u00a0open our minds, hearts, and souls to watch for\u00a0signs?\u00a0 I trust in God. \u00a0I trust in myself. \u00a0I trust in my signs. \u00a0That’s what faith is for me, not just hope, but knowing.\u00a0 I trust in the knowing.<\/p>\n
