I am glad you have joined me.

Welcome to “A Safe Place”. I hope you find this a place you can be yourself and I can be myself. Like two old friends over a cup of coffee. (But I don’t drink coffee – it jacks me up – I drink mint tea.) Perhaps we can define “a safe place” as just that – being able to be yourself with no fear of rejection or or condemnation. I think we all long for a place where we feel we belong and and feel safe. I know I do.

Think about what makes a safe place for you. Is it being with a special person? Or in your favorite room? Or a certain place? I like to call my home my sanctuary. And when people ask me where is my favorite place of all the places I have traveled I always say, “home”. I love to be in my home. I am really a homebody – boring – but accurate! I have always said I’d like to stay home and bake cookies! My friends guffaw at this because I have such a busy schedule. But I come home to fill up and feel renewed. It’s quiet. I am surrounded by my books and the things I love. My friends feel free to come by – and especially my grandchildren. Perhaps there are all sorts of safe places. Does a safe place have to be a physical place. What does it mean to be safe? Free from fear and anxiety? Feeling protected? Secure? Can we feel anxious and still feel safe? What makes us feel safe?

Let’s begin the conversation. I’m looking forward to it. No stranger to heartache, she seeks to provide a Biblical perspective to her journey of faith. She is warm and talks openly about her own need for a safe place as she journeyed through her husband’s infidelities, her subsequent depression, her divorces, her teenage daughter’s two unplanned pregnancies, another daughter’s bulimia, her son’s battle with drugs, grandson's special needs and returning to school at age 40. Although born into the "famous" Graham family Ruth did not feel she had a safe place to unburden the secrets of her life. She felt she had to project and image and wear a mask that she "had it all together". She had to meet others' expectations of her. It was not until a mid-life crisis did that she fully discover the unconditional love and grace of God. Her life's passion is to connect people to that same grace and love she found, no matter who they are or what sin. Ruth is an experienced conference speaker and Bible teacher. She has appeared on a variety of radio and television shows including: Good Morning, America, The Hour of Power, Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, Fox & Friends, CBN, Life Today and CNN. She has worked in publishing for over 14 years and is the founder of the Ruth Graham & Friends Ministry. Ruth has three grown children and nine grandchildren. She lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Her life Bible verse is John 1:16.
http://ruthgrahamministries.com
["GET
