We didn’t get cable TV when we moved to Philly. Julie figured that because we only used it in Dallas for news, PBS Kids and the occasional Nickelodeon show, it was a waste of money to get it here. She’s right, especially because we stay well-informed on news via the Internet and public radio. (The NPR app for iPhone is terrific; it lets you pick stations anywhere in the country and livestream ’em; we’ve toggled back and forth between WHYY, the Philly station, and KERA, our Dallas station; it’s so odd to sit here in Philadelphia hearing traffic reports from Dallas). But I tell you, I’ve had the heebie-jeebies, not being able to watch Snowpocalypse covered by TV news. I’ve kept it to myself, but just now Julie said, “You know what I love? Not having a TV.”
\n“Not me,” I said. “I’m dying to see coverage of the snowstorm.”
\n“Really?”
