\nThat’s why they are going to bill the Mexican government (one of many countries) for treating their<\/strong> indigent citizens who come through their emergency room.<\/p>\n

The county is already preparing to send bills to several counties for treating their residents. Last year, the county had $76.5 million <\/strong>in health care costs associated with treating noncounty residents, according to numbers prepared by county staff.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Why should Medicaid alone absorb this cost? If it does, how long can we keep this up?<\/p>\n

County Judge Margaret Keliher said she doesn’t expect the foreign countries to pay up, just as she doesn’t expect neighboring counties to pay for treating their indigent residents.
