Reid has a filibuster-proof majority, Republican votes aren&#8217;t need at all. It&#8217;s his own party that isn&#8217;t happy with the bill and he has to do the impossible: pass a bill that has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/blogs\/health\/2009\/12\/opm_public_option_compromise_.html\">public optionish component<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/livepulse\/1209\/Officials_Medicare_buyin_on_table.html?showall\">here&#8217;s another way for compromise<\/a>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/nat5735.html\">limits abortion enough to keep the pro-aborts and the pro-lifers on board<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He charges that the Republicans are trying to slow it down, saying the same thing that was said of slavery and the civil rights movement.
