He had been diagnosed<\/a> around the same time I was told I had a tumor. I haven’t been able to find out what type of cancer he had but it had spread to several locations when it was discovered. Here’s a statement from his family<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Jack Kemp passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord shortly after 6 o’clock this evening, surrounded by the love of his family and pastor, and believing with Isaiah, “My strength and my courage is the Lord.”
\nDuring the treatment of his cancer, Jack expressed his gratitude for the thoughts and prayers of so many friends, a gratitude which the Kemp family shares.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
