OMH! What? Does the military watch the Terminator movies, ignore all the warnings and say to themselves, “Wow! We have to get us one of those?” Don’t they know that robots who are capable of adjusting sizes to get to their targets<\/a> might be capable of adjusting targets. And guess what the name of the company is that won the award? iRobot!!! If it wasn’t a military magazine, I would have thought the whole article was a joke!<\/p>\n

America’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) and the Army Research Office has awarded the contract to iRobot, which has developed other robots for the military.
\nThey want scientists to come up with a design for a tiny robot able to move under its own power and change shape so it can get through gaps less than half an inch wide.
\nThe US administration has not said what it wants the robot to do but its specification says: “Often the only available points of entry are small openings in buildings, walls, under doors, etc. In these cases, a robot must be soft enough to squeeze or traverse through small openings, yet large enough to carry an operationally meaningful payload.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Scottish experts don’t think it can be done but I bet they figure out a way.
