It&#8217;s funny that she would have given the enemy such great ammunition.<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/bensmith\/0408\/Obama_on_smalltown_PA_Clinging_religion_guns_xenophobia.html\">via<\/a>)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2008\/04\/11\/obama-on-small-town-voters-bitter-xenophobic-religious\/\">McCain&#8217;s people jumped on it right away<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>    Asked to respond, McCain adviser Steve Schmidt called it a \u201cremarkable statement and extremely revealing.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cIt shows an elitism and condescension towards hardworking Americans that is nothing short of breathtaking,\u201d Schmidt said. \u201cIt is hard to imagine someone running for president who is more out of touch with average Americans.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I thought he was an elitist when I heard it.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2008\/04\/11\/obama-on-small-town-voters-bitter-xenophobic-religious\/\">And of course Clinton isn&#8217;t going to let it slide<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>    \u201cIt\u2019s being reported that my opponent said that the people of Pennsylvania who face hard times are bitter,\u201d Clinton said during a campaign event in Philadelphia. \u201cWell that\u2019s not my experience. As I travel around Pennsylvania. I meet people who are resilient, optimist positive who are rolling up their sleeves.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cPennsylvanians don\u2019t need a president who looks down on them,\u201d she said. \u201cThey need a president who stands up for them, who fights hard for your future, your jobs, your families.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t the experience of the HuffPo writer who broke the story either.<br \/>\nIf I were Clinton, I would be playing the quote 24\/7 on radio and bringing it up on every interview I did.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a way to win votes, don&#8217;t you think?
