\ncalamities and miseries,
\ncrosses and losses,
\nwhich you meet with in this world–is
\nall the hell that you shall ever have!
\nHere and now you have your hell.
\nHereafter you shall have your heaven!
\nThis is the worst of your condition;
\nthe best is yet to come!
\nLazarus had his hell first, his heaven last; but
\nDives had his heaven first, and his hell at last.
\nYou have all your pangs, and pains, and throes
\nhere–that ever you shall have! Your ease, and
\nrest, and pleasure–is yet to come!
\nHere you have all your bitters;
\nyour sweets are yet to come!
\nHere you have your sorrows;
\nyour joys are yet to come!
\nHere you have all your winter nights;
\nyour summer days are yet to come!
\nHere you have your evil things;
\nyour good things are yet to come!
\nDeath will put an end to all your sins
\n–and to all your sufferings!
\nDeath will be an inlet to those joys, delights,
\nand comforts–which shall never have an end!
