Ted Williams the homeless man with the golden voice<\/a> has been arrested. Apparently, his new found fame has gotten the best of him and his alcoholism has regained its footing. Now, instead of cheap bottles of vodka, he’s drinking the best vodka and beer he can get his hands on. <\/p>\n

His daughter Janey says, “He’s consumed at least a bottle of Grey Goose a night, at least,” Janey said. “That’s not including the Coronas he orders, that’s not including the Budweisers he orders, that’s not including the other alcohol, the wines. He drinks “heavily,” as reported in <\/span>The New York Daily News<\/a>. <\/span><\/font><\/div>\n

Reports were released that he also hit his daughter and she hit him. “<\/span><\/font>Ted Williams<\/a> recounted his Monday night arrest by the Los Angeles Police Department<\/a>, claiming his 29-year-old daughter, Janey, hit him during a family altercation at a Hollywood hotel.”<\/span><\/div>\n

This is sad, but it’s a similar story that happens to many people who suddenly add fame or huge success to their life. It reminds me of an old saying, “Talent can take you places where your character cannot keep you.” The famous basketball coach <\/span><\/font>John Wooden<\/a> said it like this, “Ability may get you to the top, but it take character to keep you there.” <\/div>\n

I feel for Ted Williams. Of course he is responsible for his own actions, but he is a victim of what the media and success can do. A man suffering under the bonds of homelessness is now thrust into the lime-light and finding it very difficult to deal with his new found success<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
For all of us, this is a lesson and reminder to work on the issues in our lives that are the most important – character, an internal sense of values, a biblical understanding of what it means to be human and live with integrity. We can’t do this on our own. We need God’s help and the help of the community around us. Let’s pray that Ted gets back on his feet. <\/p>\n
