We’ve all heard the nursery rhyme, “Chicken Little” where the main character is crying out that the sky is falling. Well, a real-life chicken little event occurred on Friday night, December 31, 2010.<\/p>\n

In Beebe, Arkansas, outside of Little Rock, 2,000 red-winged blackbirds fell dead from the sky. What makes this so strange is that all of the birds fell dead with in a one-mile radius. There are several theories about what may have happened:<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n
1. Fireworks shot in the area causing them to die from stress<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n
2. Poisoning or illness<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n
3. Secret government weapons testing<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n
4. They were hit by lightening or high-altitude hail<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n
Mike Robertson, the Beebe mayor, and<\/span><\/font> other officials went to the roost area over the weekend and found no dead birds on the ground. <\/span>“That pretty much rules out an illness” or poisoning, the mayor said.<\/span><\/div>\n

At this point, nobody really knows what happened. <\/span><\/font><\/div>\n
