My favorite blend, St. George the Dragon Slayer and musing a bit on life. My 37th birthday is tomorrow, which is also Yom Kippur (a Jewish holiday were the focus is mercy) and to celebrate we’re going on vacation for a week up in the mountains. I’m really looking forward to the R & R. My travel schedule has been brutal lately and will be so in October. I will post from the local Starbucks in Breckenridge when I can, and my posts will take on a reflective nature. Hope that’s okay.

On one note, as I’m doing all of these TV and radio interviews for the release of Red Letters, many of them aren’t sure they want to do the interview because the topic isn’t "Happy Enough" for their listeners. Are you kidding me? Have we come to the place in our faith where we don’t want to hear about anything that isn’t happy and isn’t going to make us feel better? This kind of attitude is why there are over 143 million orphans in the world and millions of people dying everyday from preventable, treatable diseases! That’s very much the spirit of the Priest and the Levite in the Parable of the Good Samaritan – Luke 10 – walk on the other side of the road from your neighbor who is dying and pretend like nothing is going on. Makes me righteously indignant, feel like I want to turn some tables over! I’m going to go ahead and choose to follow the teachings of my Savior. Teachings that tell my life isn’t about me, it is better to give than receive, His plan is more important than my plan, and that true love for God is showing my neighbor MERCY. My neighbor who is poor, homeless, African, orphaned – whoever God brings across my path that is in NEED.

Thanks to the many friends who get this message, the core of the heart of Jesus for His world. Here are some more reviews of Red Letters – I’m thankful to the authors who took the time to write them and are getting the message out!Check out their blogs, they rock. Shauna Rumbling, Makeesha Fisher, and Deb Gangemi. A tireless advocate for fatherless children, Davis has spent most of his adult life calling U.S. believers to become the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to the 143 million orphans living around the world. Through those connections, thousands of orphans now have the bright and hopeful future--one that is filled with opportunities and the love of the one true Father. Davis speaks hundreds of times each year at churches and conferences, mobilizing the church to action on behalf of the poor. He is the author of four books. His most recent novel, SCARED is a fictionalized account of his first-hand experiencing living and working with orphans in Swaziland, Africa. Davis' blog is the premier resource for the latest developments in Christian orphan ministry. Davis also currently teaches courses as adjunct professor at George Fox University in Newberg, OR. When not traveling the globe, Davis resides in the mountains of Colorado in the small community of Palmer Lake. He and his wife Emily have seven children, including two adopted daughters from Russia.
["GET
