Andy is the founder of “Beards for Hope.<\/a>” A few months ago I got an e-mail from Andy, who said:<\/p>\n

“I’m blessed with the super-manly ability to grow facial hair. I often style it when I’m bored. Here’s what I’m thinking…Beards for Hope<\/a>.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

From now through the end of the year, Andy is going to grow and style a different beard every week. He’s raising money for this crazy idea, and wants to bless the women and children in the HopeChest Young Mothers Program of Russia. I encourage you to make a gift, grow a beard, and change the world.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to try and grow 20 different beard styles in 20 consecutive weeks. Why? Well, why not?<\/em><\/p>\n

The idea for Beards of Hope came to me where most good ideas come: the shower. I enjoy growing different kinds of facial hair. A strange gift, I know. I\u2019d recently a couple books by Tom Davis, Scared and Priceless, which are riveting stories based on the work that his organization, Children\u2019s HopeChest, undertakes.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tom has become a friend over the past year, so when I thought about growing beards to raise money for a cause, HopeChest immediately sprang to mind. Their Young Mother\u2019s Program<\/a> in Russia is doing some amazing things equipping orphans who have \u201caged out\u201d of the system at 15 and have a child of their own to try and raise.<\/em><\/p>\n

If you can grow a beard, join in. Comment on \u201cThe Beards\u201d page with which beard YOU think you can grow, leave your email address in the comment, then make a donation to HopeChest. We\u2019ll email you directions on how to submit a picture of your beard and then we\u2019ll put it up on the site when I get to that beard in the schedule.<\/em><\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t grow a beard, consider making a donation anyway. For every $2500 we raise, we can provide training, counseling, and healing to one young orphan mother in Russia.<\/em><\/p>\n
