So it was jarring that there was so little concern from Evangelicals about Senator McCain&#8217;s out of touch answer on who is rich in <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">America<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.&nbsp; After generously offering that he wants everyone to be rich,&nbsp;McCain&nbsp;suggested that perhaps those who&nbsp;had a&nbsp;wealth of&nbsp;$5,000,000 might make the cut.&nbsp; Voters are reminded of McCain&#8217;s distorted perception of wealth again today when AP reported that <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20080821\/ap_on_el_pr\/mccain_houses\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#800080\" size=\"3\">John McCain has lost track of how many houses he and his wife own.&nbsp;<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><font size=\"3\"><font color=\"#000000\"><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">We are<\/font><\/o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&nbsp;living in a time when the disparity between those with the most money and those with the least is wider than it has been for a century.&nbsp; In 2005 an average CEO was paid 821 times as much as a minimum wage earner. <span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">&nbsp;<\/span>45 million Americans do not have health insurance and the nation&#8217;s poverty rate rose to 12.7 percent of the population last year.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><o:p><font face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\">&nbsp;<\/font><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><font face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"3\">All religions have warnings about how&nbsp;wealth distorts values and&nbsp;dangerously tempts&nbsp;to focus our lives towards material gain at the expense of our spiritual well being.&nbsp; You cannot&nbsp;serve&nbsp;both God and Mammon says the Lord (Matt 6:24).&nbsp;&nbsp;Poverty is a values issue and it is a religious issue.&nbsp;&nbsp;Both the Republicans and the Democrats must take it seriously if they want, as they claim, to be on God&#8217;s side. &nbsp;
