Living and Reigning God<\/p>\n

We give you thanks on this Easter morning for the Resurrection
\nof your son Jesus Christ! Lord, help us to make Jesus’ victory our own and to
\nviscerally experience this liberating Good News. \u00a0From whatever graves we may currently inhabit, may we hear Jesus’ clarion
\ncall to follow him to new life. \u00a0<\/span>We
\ndo not expect magic or instant gratification, rather we pray for your powerful
\npresence as we journey on our path of renewal.\u00a0 <\/span>From our destructive sin turn us to accept your transforming
\ngrace, from isolating loneliness lead us towards a healing community, from
\ninstinctive fear inspire intentional love, from paralyzing personal grief awaken
\nus to compassion towards others, in our helpless despair reveal your Incarnate One
\nso that we might be living testimonies to your resurrection, that we might, in
\nSt. Augustine’s words, be alleluia from head to toe.<\/p>\n

On this Easter morning we remember all those who are sick,
\nwho are suffering, those who have died, and those who grieve those deaths. God,
\nwho through your son Jesus conquered death, we commend the souls of all who
\nhave died to your loving eternal embrace.\u00a0
\n<\/span>May those of us who suffer from any affliction feel your comforting
\npresence and receive your healing power to sooth and mend our broken
\nhearts.\u00a0 <\/span>May the light of Jesus’
\nlove break through the shadows and slowly bring back to life even the most
\npainful and deadened parts of our spirits.<\/p>\n

Compassionate God, we remember the men and women of our
\narmed services and ask that you might protect them and give them a special
\nportion of Easter Good News.\u00a0 <\/span>We
\npray for all people living in countries affected by war including Iraq and
\nAfghanistan, Israel and Palestine, Darfur, the Congo. God we pray for the day
\nwhen our swords will become plowshares and war will be no more.<\/p>\n

Lord, much of the world remains in the hypnotic thrall of
\ncrucifixion.\u00a0 <\/span>Billions of your
\nprecious children living and dying in poverty, habitual war strangling fragile
\nefforts for peace, the weak exploited for gain by the greedy, loss of jobs and
\nhomes throughout our nation devastating families, and the continued inequality
\namong peoples rotting the fabric of our society. \u00a0<\/span>On this day of resurrection we remember Jesus’ first sermon
\nwhen he told us that he came to bring good news to the poor, release the
\ncaptive, give sight to the blind, liberation to the oppressed. Commission us
\ntoday to be apostles of your radical Gospel that Love is more powerful than
\ndeath, that passion is more powerful than the grave. \u00a0May we labor in your kingdom with the confidence that there is no evil we cannot
\novercome if we are bound by the blessed power of your sacrificial love and
\nresurrecting Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n

Thank you God for your son Jesus, for his life, for his
\ndeath, and for his resurrection.\u00a0
\n<\/span>Hear us as we pray the prayer he taught us:<\/p>\n

Our
\nFather, who art in heaven,
\nHallowed be thy Name.
\nThy kingdom come.
\nThy will be done,
\nOn earth as it is in heaven.
\nGive us this day our daily bread.
\nAnd forgive us our trespasses,
\nAs we forgive those who trespass against us.
\nAnd lead us not into temptation,
\nBut deliver us from evil.
\nFor thine is the kingdom,
\nand the power,
\nand the glory,
\nfor ever and ever.
