Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’s nomination for HHS has largely focused on her abortion
\nrecord thanks to a concerted effort by ultra conservatives such as the Catholic
\nLeague’s Bill Donohue who said:<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

“Sebelius’ support for abortion is so far off-the-charts that she has
\nbeen publicly criticized by the last three archbishops of Kansas City. . .
\n.Just yesterday, the pope admonished House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on this issue.
\nNow we have the specter of another pro-abortion Catholic stiffing the Catholic
\nChurch. This is setting up a confrontation that pro-life Catholics will not
\nwalk away from.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n


<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bill Donohue is the one off the charts. \u00a0Most American’s, including
\nmany pro-life Americans like Gov. Sebelius, are seeking to reduce the
\nnumber of abortions in ways that do not drive the practice of abortions
\nunderground and risk woman’s lives. \u00a0Gov. Sebelius has\u00a0received\u00a0support
\nfrom Catholic groups such as Catholics United,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Senator Brownback<\/span><\/a> and other top pro-life
\nChristian leaders including David Gushee and Joel Hunter who issued a
\nsupportive statement:<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

Under Governor Sebelius’ leadership, abortions have
\ndecreased in Kansas by 10 percent, adoption funding and incentives have
\nincreased, healthcare access for women and families has expanded, prenatal care
\nhas become more widely available, and legislation protecting the unborn from
\ncrime has become law. Such a record demonstrates a commitment to results rather
\nthan rhetoric on life issues.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n


<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

The Republican party continues to marginalize itself using
\nspokesmen such as Donohue and Limbaugh who represent the\u00a0fanatic\u00a0fringe
\nwhile the rest of Americans attempt to find common ground and real solutions to the problems facing our country.<\/span><\/p>\n
