As it was, we got Ten Commandments few people (well, none) are able to completely follow.<\/p>\n<p>Can you imagine what he may have downloaded from Mount Sinai with not two stone tablets, but gigabytes of data storage available? <em>Oy Vey.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>OK, probably a poor attempt at humor. Forgive me. <em>You know, you&#8217;re supposed to do that, if you are a believer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>All of this is a long way of getting into this particular blog&#8217;s topic: The ways that technology has made the scriptures of all the world&#8217;s major religions available to read on smart phones, e-readers, laptops, touch pad computers, etc.<\/p>\n<p>But to keep our heads from spinning too much, let&#8217;s stick to smart phones.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom line, you have no excuse not to read your <em><a title=\"Bible,\" href=\"http:\/\/mobileministrymagazine.com\/bibles-for-mobile-devices\/#multi\" target=\"_blank\">Bible<\/a>, <a title=\"Talmud\" href=\"http:\/\/smartphone-software.handster.com\/the_babylonian_talmud.html\" target=\"_blank\">Talmud<\/a>, <a title=\"Qu'ran,\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smartphone-freeware.com\/download-quran-reader-1-6.html\" target=\"_blank\">Qu&#8217;ran<\/a><\/em>, <em><a title=\"Tibetan Book of the Dead\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kobobooks.com\/ebook\/Tibetan-Book-of-the-Dead\/book-_LuV85aUcUGtN62oN9e7Tw\/page1.html\" target=\"_blank\">the Tibetan Book of the Dead<\/a><\/em>, etc., anymore. There are, indeed, <em>apps for that.<\/em> Or those. And many of them are free.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_449\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-449\" style=\"width: 141px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/preacherskid\/files\/2011\/09\/smartphone-bible.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-449 \" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.beliefnet.com\/sites\/279\/2011\/09\/smartphone-bible-157x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"141\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-449\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Word of God -- in the &quot;cloud&quot;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Personally, I use <em><a title=\"Tecarta's\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tecartabible.com\/Home\/Mobile\" target=\"_blank\">Tecarta&#8217;s<\/a><\/em> software on my Droid X and Nook Color e-reader alike. With a single touch, I can switch between, say, the <em>New International Version<\/em> to the <em>King James<\/em>, or compare a passage in the popular<em> Message<\/em> paraphrase. Many other translations and commentaries, devotionals, etc., are available for download, some free some for purchase.<\/p>\n<p>I am also a fan of <em><a title=\"YouVersion\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youversion.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">YouVersion<\/a><\/em>, the brainchild of <em>LifeChurch.tv<\/em>. This works best over a solid 3G or better network and, in that sense, operates out of a &#8220;cloud.&#8221; Although the term refers to data, given the spiritual nature of all this, you&#8217;ve got to love the imagery.<\/p>\n<p><em>YouVersion<\/em> currently offers 113 translations of the Bible in 41 languages. The app download is free.<\/p>\n<p>There are many, many other options, too, among them such favorites as <a title=\"OliveTree\" href=\"http:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>OliveTree<\/em> <\/a>and <em><a title=\"Laridian\" href=\"http:\/\/www.laridian.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Laridian.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.tecartabible.com\/Home\/Mobile<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ah!\u00a0 What Moses could&#8217;ve done if he&#8217;d had an iPhone or Droid in his hands.
