The Lord <\/span><\/b>is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit <\/span><\/b><\/span><\/em>(Psalm 34:18).<\/em> <\/b><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The image of heartbreak describing the devastating emotional pain of a broken relationship transcends culture and is expressed in the same way\u00a0in almost every language.\u00a0 We feel<\/i> the pain of betrayal and separation deeply at the core of our soul.\u00a0 It feels as if our heart really is breaking \u2013 because of course, it is. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

God understands this experience because he himself has lived through a broken heart.\u00a0 God has been a jilted lover. Through his love for us, he has endured unfaithfulness and desertion. God understands our loneliness and identifies with us. We can talk to him about this experience and ask him for help at our deepest point of despair \u2013 because he’s been there himself! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here is a prayer for those who have suffered a broken heart.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

God, you care deeply for broken-hearted people. \u00a0This is a promise you make: You are close.\u00a0 We pray for all those who are crippled by broken relationships.\u00a0 Our hearts take the blow of disappointment.\u00a0 We feel crushed because our hopes are dashed.\u00a0 God, heal broken hearts.\u00a0 We cannot fix our own wounds.\u00a0 But you can. \u00a0If pieces of our heart have been lost, or are held captive by another, recover them and bring them back to us and miraculously “put us back together” so that our heart is whole again.\u00a0 You are a mender of broken hearts.\u00a0 We ask for this miracle, in the name of Jesus.<\/em><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
