Christians in Egypt are living in heighted fear of persecution, and political change may not be a change for the better.  <\/span>Christian demonstrators have been praying peacefully with Muslims in Tahrir Square in Cairo. But as turmoil in the streets leads to upheaval in the government, it’s clear that Egypt’s Christians – 10 percent of the population – will likely be marginalized by a new regime even less tolerate than President Hosni Mubarak has been.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

A similar fate befell Christians in Iraq following regime change. Sadam Hussein was fairly tolerant of the Christian minority. But the new government has covertly and even overtly endorsed hostility against Christians. Thousands have fled Iraq as a result. As turmoil now spreads in Egypt and potentially to the rest of the Muslim world, Christians fear for their security. <\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
