Nigeria is in the midst of its worst cholera outbreak in many years. Nearly 40,000 cases and more than 1,500 deaths have been reported in 2010. The number of cases this year is nearly three times the total for all of last year and 7 times the number in 2008. The Red Cross estimates that women and children account for 80 per cent of these cases.<\/font><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n
