Rescue teams are still searching for four workers missing in a coal mine where a massive explosion killed 25 miners yesterday at Massey Energy Co.’s huge Upper Big Branch mine about 30 miles south of Charleston. It was the worst U.S. mining disaster in more than 20 years. Officials admitted this morning that chances are slim that the miners survived.<\/font><\/p>\n

“All we have left is hope, and we’re going to continue to do what we can,” said Kevin Stricklin, an administrator for the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration. “But I’m just trying to be honest with everybody and say that the situation does look dire.”<\/font><\/p>\n

Let’s offer pray for the miners and their families….<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

“God, we live in a dangerous world. It is a wonderful world full of blessings, but sometimes disasters intrude into our lives. We do not understand why, but we do trust you through these times. And give officials and mine owners and supervisors wisdom to maintain and increase safety in these work places. We thank you for the gift of energy.
