You might love the guy; you might not. Either way, we as believers are encouraged \u2013 rather commanded \u2013 to pray for our political leaders, irregardless of their\u00a0political persuasion or ours.<\/p>\n

Psalm 72 is a wonderful prayer for a governmental leader. We will use it as a prayer template for President Donald J. Trump on this his 71st birthday.<\/p>\n

Psalm 72<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Father,<\/em><\/p>\n

Today we especially want to heed Your call to pray for our president.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Endow the king with your justice, O God…<\/em><\/strong>
\nMay he judge your people in righteousness,<\/em><\/strong>
\n your afflicted ones with justice.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Give President Trump a keen sense of justice. Grant Him divine wisdom to make choices based on wisdom, dealing equitably with people, especially those who are weak.<\/em><\/p>\n

May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,<\/em><\/strong>
\n the hills the fruit of righteousness.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Through this term as President, may he find ways to bring prosperity to our nation, especially to those afflicted with poverty. Help him find ways to help meet the needs of the poorest of the poor and their children.<\/em><\/p>\n

May the kings…of distant shores<\/em><\/strong>
\n bring tribute to him.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Enhance his relationship with foreign leaders and nations, Lord, giving him both favor and wisdom as he navigates rugged political terrain around the globe.<\/em><\/p>\n

May he defend the afflicted among the people<\/em><\/strong>
\n and save the children of the needy;<\/em><\/strong>
\n may he crush the oppressor.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

May his kindness toward the afflicted spread from our shores to other nations around the world, through example as well as through sharing our resources, for we know that when we are called upon to share, there is always enough.<\/em><\/p>\n

For he will deliver the needy who cry out,<\/em><\/strong>
\n the afflicted who have no one to help.<\/em><\/strong>
\nHe will take pity on the weak and the needy<\/em><\/strong>
\n and save the needy from death.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Decrease violence in our land, Lord, and save from death the unborn and others who are vulnerable.<\/em><\/p>\n

May he be like rain falling on a mown field,<\/em><\/strong>
\n like showers watering the earth.<\/em><\/strong>
\nIn his days may the righteous flourish<\/em><\/strong>
\n and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We ask for abundant provision for every person in our land, an ample supply of food and basic necessities. Bless each\u00a0farmer in our land who grows our food, and please give them adequate rain for their crops.<\/em><\/p>\n

May grain abound throughout the land;<\/em><\/strong>
\n on the tops of the hills may it sway.<\/em><\/strong>
\nMay the crops flourish like Lebanon<\/em><\/strong>
\n and thrive like the grass of the field.<\/em><\/strong>
\nThen all nations will be blessed through him,<\/em><\/strong>
\n and they will call him blessed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We ask that other nations would benefit from our prosperity. May the earth prosper and may each person be well-fed and cared for and loved.<\/em><\/p>\n

May people ever pray for him<\/em><\/strong>
\n and bless him all day long.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

May You stir the hearts of all praying Americans to lift up President Donald Trump\u00a0and his family in prayer every day for protection, wisdom, and divine guidance.<\/em><\/p>\n

Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,<\/em><\/strong>
\n who alone does marvelous deeds.<\/em><\/strong>
\nPraise be to his glorious name forever;<\/em><\/strong>
\n may the whole earth be filled with his glory.<\/em><\/strong>
